FAQs About Big Heads

      1. What is the average head size? Is my head bigger than average? What is considered a big head? Is a size 8 hat big?
The average size male head is 22" 1/2 and the average size woman head is 21" 3/4. The one size fits all (OSFA) hats stop at about 23", so a person would find it difficult finding a hat that fits around a size 7 1/2 and above. In the hat world, head sizes over 23" 3/8 would be considered a big head.

      2. What hat suits a big head?
Only Lamood Big Hats has hats that suit big heads. All of our big head hats are made bigger around and deeper in the crown to accommodate big heads. Store bought hats are just not large enough for people with big heads.

      3. Can people with big heads wear hats?
Lamood Big Hats was founded in 2004 and ever since then people with big heads are able to wear hats.

      4. Do Dad hats fit big heads?
Yes, we designed and built dad hats for big heads that fit over a size 9 (29"+). Dad hats found in stores are not suited for big heads because the crown depth is too shallow and would be too tight for larger size heads.

      5. What hat looks good on a big head? How can I hide my big head?
Any of our hats will look good on a big head, and is really a personal preference. Some people love wearing a baseball cap, a brimmed hat, or enjoy a bucket hat. You will not need to hide your big head. Our hats are made proportionally bigger and will actually make your head size look more "normal" than wearing a small hat that doesn't fit and will actually make your head look bigger.

      6. What's the biggest hat size?
The biggest hat size is a size 9 1/4. We are continuing to develop larger size and if you are in need of a bigger size hat please contact us.

      7. What's the difference between low profile, mid profile, and high profile caps?
The profile refers to the height of the crown in the front. The profiles for caps for big heads can be structured or unstructured as well. No matter the profile, all of our big hats are made bigger around and deeper in the crown.
        • Low-Profile - this is the least steep slant to the front of the hat and is normally associated with a sport or golf style hat.

        • Mid-Profile - this is a bit steeper slant to the front of the hat and is normally associated with what a baseball player would wear. Additionally, this style hat tends to be a bit of a deeper fit.

        • High-Profile - this is almost a straight up slant to the front of the hat and normally associated with the foam front 5 panel caps.
